The Clarkson Baseball Campaign

Clarkson Athletics Online Giving

Serving as a trademark for Clarkson baseball since 1927, the grandstand at Snell Field is an integral part of the Green and Gold’s rich history in the sport. More than 75 years of baseball have been viewed from this structure, and with the help of the Clarkson Baseball Campaign, many more will follow. The eight-phase plan will combine upgrades necessary to facilitate modern-day baseball with the original grandstand, keeping the tradition of Clarkson baseball intact.

Jack Phillips Stadium Renovations

Behind a series of improvements that began in 2000, Clarkson has already installed renovated facility features such as batting cages, dugouts, bullpen mounds, a rebuilt home plate area, a rebuilt pitcher’s mound, and the addition of full-fielding fencing. In order to continue the progress of these renovations, auxiliary improvements to the grandstand, playing surface and various other areas are necessary.

The 2007 proposal calls for a prioritized sequence of upgrades. The goal for Phases I and II, the immediate priority, is $300,000. Phase I calls for an improved playing surface that would include a traditional, skinned infield, a drainage sprinkler system and warning tracks. The grandstand renovation would come in Phase II, complete with a roof, concrete repairs, concession area, painting, new seating, signage, handrails and netting.

The addition of a 10-inning scoreboard, a remodeled entrance, a press box, practice area, restrooms and lights are encompassed in phases three through eight.
