Clarkson Athletics Online Giving
In an effort to keep pace with the national powerhouses in NCAA Division I men’s and women’s hockey, the Hockey Endowment Campaign aims to establish a $10 million endowment to fund scholarships for the programs. Recognizing the challenge of maintaining a nationally-ranked team on a modest annual operating budget, Clarkson is making a commitment to face that challenge head on by establishing a permanent endowment and providing financial stability.
The formula is simple: Talented players, first-rate facilities, and a strong coaching staff equal a successful program. This scholarship endowment will provide Clarkson with resources comparable to the competition and allow the Green and Gold to recruit the highest caliber student-athletes.
All gifts will be invested in Clarkson’s endowment. The University’s current spending policy is 4.5% of the average market value for the previous 12 quarters. Twenty percent of the income from the endowment will be allocated to support the operating budgets for men’s and women’s hockey, while the other 80% will support the grants-in-aid budget. Efforts to raise the annual gifts in support of the hockey operating budgets for both teams will intensify to ensure Clarkson Hockey has the resources to win a national championship. These operating gifts will augment the institutional budget and the 20% allocation from the hockey endowment.
For those individuals who want to see Clarkson win a National Championship in the near future, making an outright gift to be invested immediately to begin generating income for the program should be considered. Donors are encouraged to consider making a commitment over a three-year period.
