Lamb and Gibbons Take Home Liberty League Weekly Honors
March 24, 2008

With an impressive overtime win against Bowdoin in Florida and another nail-biter versus RIT on Saturday, the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team completed a 2-0 week and saw two of its players, senior Greg Lamb (Baldwinsville, NY) and junior Greg Gibbons (Baldwinsville, NY) earn Liberty League Weekly Awards for their performances.

Lamb, who won the Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week honor, backstopped the Golden Knights to two close wins on the road last week. He made 18 saves, including eight in the fourth quarter, in a 6-5 overtime victory over Bowdoin in Florida on Wednesday, and then matched that effort against RIT on Saturday, allowing just a single goal to the Tigers in the second half en route to a 6-4 win.

For the season, Lamb has made 71 saves in four games, and the Clarkson is allowing a paltry 6.5 goals per game.

Gibbons, who earned Liberty League Co-Offensive Performer of the Week, helped lead Clarkson in the two tight wins as the Knights' leading scorer. He scored four points on two goals and two assists against Bowdoin, connecting for the game-winner 2:30 into overtime, and added an assist against RIT on Saturday. Through four games, Gibbons has scored three goals and five assists for eight points, as he slowly moves up Clarkson's all-time scoring list, just a single point behind 18th all-time through two-plus seasons.
