Kathryn Durki Elevated To Clarkson Women's Lacrosse Head Coach
August 20. 2008

The Clarkson University Athletic Department has announced that Kathryn Durki has been named as the school's Head Coach for Women's Lacrosse for the 2008-09 season.

Durki, a native of Canton, NY, served as an assistant coach in 2007-08 at Clarkson under former head coach Caitlin Powderly, who recently accepted a position as an assistant coach at Division I Brown University. Durki graduated from St. Lawrence University in 2007 with a degree in Environmental Studies.

"We were very excited to have a capable replacement for our women's lacrosse program in house with Kathryn," said Clarkson Athletic Director Steve Yianoukos. "Kathryn brought a great deal of energy to the program in her first year and will provide a seamless transition in her first year as head coach. With her time here as an assistant at Clarkson and as a former standout player at St. Lawrence, I think her familiarity with the area will be beneficial in recruiting as she is well versed and has a tremendous knowledge of the people and the local culture. I have great confidence that she will do an excellent job."

Durki was selected as a Second-Team Regional All-American in 2007 for her performance in the midfield. She scored 25 goals and 14 assists for 39 points, the second-highest figure for the Saints in 2007. She also led the team with 41 draw controls and 34 groundballs, with her draw control figure ranking fourth in the Liberty League. In four seasons at St. Lawrence, Durki tallied 53 goals and 31 assists for 84 points to go along with 106 draw controls and 103 groundballs. She was named a Liberty League All-Star in each of her last three seasons and was selected to participate in the prestigious North-South lacrosse game.
