KNIGHTS WIN NINTH STRAIGHT OVER POTSDAM STATE

Potsdam, NY - Sophomore Claire Horvath (South Bend, IN) recorded 17 kills, 21 digs and 4 aces as the Clarkson University Volleyball team downed Potsdam State in four games, 32-30, 30-16, 23-30, 30-25 in a non-league match Tuesday evening at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights improved to 19-9 overall with their fourth straight win and Potsdam fell to 8-15. Clarkson has now won nine straight matches over the past four years over Potsdam. The Bears did end a 22-game winning streak by Clarkson when they won the third game of the match.

Stephanie Thornton (Corning, NY), the defending Liberty League Performer of the Week, produced 12 kills, 23 digs, 4 aces and 3 blocks for the Golden Knights. Senior Shannon Kentner (Waddington, NY) added 11 kills and four blocks while Suzanne Clarvoe (Hartwick, NY) had 40 assists, 13 digs and 5 aces. Senior Heather Weldon (Harriman, NY) also added 10 digs for the Golden Knights, who close out the regular season on Saturday when they visit St. Lawrence.
