HERONS CONTINUE STREAK AGAINST KNIGHTS, 3-0

October 22, 2004

Potsdam, NY – Freshman striker Brittany Warren scored a goal and assisted on two others as William Smith shut out the Clarkson University Women’s Soccer team 3-0 in a Liberty League conference match up Friday afternoon at Clarkson Field.

The Golden Knights fell to 4-11 overall and 1-5 in the Liberty League while William Smith improved to 10-2-2 and 4-2 in the conference. Clarkson was officially eliminated from Liberty League post-season play with the loss.

William Smith, which has never lost to the Golden Knights, started off the scoring quickly at the 8:56 mark when Laura Burnett-Kurie scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season on a through-ball break away. Brittany Warren picked up the assist and then scored a goal eight minutes later on a shot that ricocheted off the post and the goaltender to the corner of the net.

The Herons added a third first-half goal at the 21:32 mark when Pria Young scored her first goal of the season with Warren picking up her second assist of the game.

Meagan Emlaw (Norwood, NY) started the game but was relieved by Lauren Arredondo (Allendale, NJ) at the 20:30 mark in the Clarkson goal. Emlaw made no saves while Arredondo stopped six shots for the Golden Knights. Nikki Dudley made three saves for William Smith, her ninth shutout of the season.

The Herons out shot Clarkson 13-3 and held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.
