UMASS-BOSTON SHUTS OUT GOLDEN KNIGHTS, 7-0

Fort Myers, FL – With the opportunity to reach .500, the Clarkson University Baseball team ran into a solid outing from a UMass-Boston freshman pitcher and the Golden Knights dropped a 7-0 decision to the Beacons Saturday morning at Terry Park Stadium.
The Golden Knights dropped to 5-7 overall and finish their Florida trip with the University of St. Thomas, the 2001 Division III National Champion, Sunday afternoon.
Freshman David Potter (Crown Point, NY) pitched six solid innings to keep the Golden Knights in the game at the start, allowing just two earned runs and eight hits. He struck out three and walked one in his second collegiate start, dropping his record to 1-1.
Juniors J.J. Lorence (Liverpool, NY) and Matt Boyle (Buxton, ME), sophomore Rob Cowin (Albany, NY) and freshman Brian Theilemann (Troy, NY) each recorded singles for Clarkson.
Freshman Pat Donovan shut out the Golden Knights by allowing just four hits over nine innings, striking out six and walking five.
