The opening day of the New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association (NYSWCAA) Swimming Championships saw the Clarkson University Women's Swim team set two new school records.
Senior Jen Faucett (Charlton, NY) broke her own record in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:16.94 in the finals, more than three-tenths of a second better than her previous standard. Her preliminary time was even better by another quarter of a second. She finished sixth in the event.
Faucett was also involved in another new record for the Knights' swim team as she, Molly Nichols (Baldwinsville, NY), Sarah Morris (Amherst, NY) and Emily MacWilliams (Watkins Glen, NY) broke the school record in the 400 medley relay by a half-second. Clarkson, which finished seventh in the event, swam the relay in 4:14.08.
Other top results for the Knights on the opening day came in the 200 freestyle relay where Clarkson finished in seventh place, thanks to Anna Josephs (Potsdam, NY), MacWilliams, Morris and Faucett. Morris also placed eighth in the 200 individual medley.
