7TH-RANKED HERONS DOWN KNIGHTS 14-4

Geneva, NY - Sophomore Lindsey Grigg (Watertown, NY) scored three times for the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team but the seventh-ranked William Smith Herons handled the Golden Knights 14-4 in a Liberty League contest Friday afternoon.

The Golden Knights dropped to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in conference play while the Herons moved to 2-1 and 1-0. Clarkson faces the University of Rochester tomorrow afternoon.

The Herons burst out to a 6-0 lead in the opening 13 minutes, but Clarkson slowed the scoring pace to stay in the game. Lindsay Roberts (Averill Park, NY) was the only other goal scorer for the Golden Knights and Ashley Edson (Lebanon, NH) added an assist. Ali Herter scored four goals for William Smith and Kathrine Maloney and Kate Bickford each added two goals and an assist for the Herons.

Sophomore goaltender Erin Duffy (Liverpool, NY) made a season-high 14 saves, within three of her career-high, for the Golden Knights. Morgan Baird and Adele Hayward each made three saves for William Smith.
