A strong second half by Union College did in the Clarkson University Women’s Lacrosse team as the visiting Dutchwomen earned an 18-4 victory over the Golden Knights in Liberty League action at SUNY Potsdam’s artificial turf field on a rainy Saturday afternoon.
Union (3-3, 2-1) broke open a tight 5-3 game after 30 minutes by scoring 12 unanswered goals in the first 20 minutes of the second half en route to their second victory of the weekend in the North Country.
Sophomore Emily Cohen (Bethlehem, PA) led Clarkson with one goal and one assist. Sophomore Lindsey Grigg (Watertown, NY) and freshmen Alexis Miller (Vestal, NY) and Rachel Kopels (Queensbury, NY) also scored for the Golden Knights.
Alexandra Toney led Union with a five-goal, one-assist effort.
Union out shot Clarkson 44-9 and dominated groundballs 32-12. Sophomore Erin Duffy (Liverpool, NY) made 14 saves for the Knights.
Clarkson, at 0-8 overall and 0-4 in the Liberty League, will look to break into the win column when it plays at St. Lawrence University this Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
