After a slow start against a very good Farleigh Dickinson team, the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team controlled play in the second half, but could not make up the early deficit and suffered a 14-7 loss in its season-opener in Wellington, Florida on Monday afternoon.
The Golden Knights trailed FDU 12-3 at the half, but outscored the Devils 4-2 over the final 45 minutes.
Junior Lindsey Grigg (Watertown, NY) led Clarkson with three goals. Lindsay Roberts (Averill Park, NY) chipped in two goals. Sophomore Alexis Miller (Vestal, NY) and freshman Alyssa Breed (Macedon, NY) rounded out the Knights' scoring with one goal each.
Amanda Wayne led FDU (1-1) with four goals.
Junior Erin Duffy (Liverpool, NY) made 10 saves for Clarkson.
The Knights return to action on Wednesday when they play Colby Sawyer in a 4:30 game in Wellington.
