The opening game of the 2006 Liberty League campaign began on a positive note for the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team as the Golden Knights tallied the first goal against the University of Rochester. The Yellowjackets, however, quickly recovered from the early deficit and went on to post a 13-4 victory on Friday afternoon in a game played at SUNY Potsdam.

Clarkson took the early lead on junior Lindsey Grigg's (Watertown, NY) goal off an assist from sophomore Alexis Miller (Vestal, NY) seven minutes after the opening draw, but Rochester recorded the next three goals en route to a 9-2 lead at the half. The Yellowjackets opened the second half with four straight scores to hold a 13-2 lead with just over 10 minutes to play.

Senior Lindsay Roberts (Averill Park, NY) and Grigg each tallied their second goals of the game for the Golden Knights in the final eight minutes to close out the scoring.

With her two-goal outing, Grigg moved into the top five among all-time Clarkson scorers with 79 points, including 70 goals. Grigg leads the Knights in scoring this season with 13 goals.

Abby Woodward scored four goals to pace Rochester, which outshot Clarkson 30-19 and held a slight 33-29 edge in groundballs.

Junior Erin Duffy (Liverpool, NY) posted 13 saves for the Knights

Clarkson (2-2, 0-1) will play conference powerhouse William Smith in an 11:00 a.m. game on Saturday at St. Lawrence University. Rochester (1-2, 1-0) will play the Saints in Canton at 2:00 p.m.
