A slow start in its season finale made for a disappointing end to the 2006 campaign for the Clarkson University Women’s Lacrosse team as the Golden Knights fell to RIT 16-8 on Sunday afternoon at Cheel Field.
RIT (3-11) jumped out to a 6-0 lead and held a 9-3 advantage at the half. Clarkson’s leading scorer Lindsey Grigg (Watertown, NY) scored her team-high three goals during a four-goal spurt by the Knights in the opening 10 minutes of the second half as the Green and Gold cut the deficit to 9-7 with just over 19 minutes to play.
The Tigers, however, answered back with seven straight goals to cruise to the victory. Pinckney Templeton tallied seven goals to lead the RIT attack.
Freshman Emily Bojarski (Syracuse, NY) scored twice for the Knights, while senior Lindsay Roberts (Averill Park, NY) and sophomore Alexis Miller (Vestal, NY) and Alicia Chace (Cortland, NY) recorded one goal each for Clarkson.
Bojarski picked up a game-high five groundballs as Clarkson controlled groundballs 32-30 and held a 29-25 edge in shots.
Kelsey Evans posted 15 saves for RIT. Junior Erin Duffy (Liverpool, NY) finished with four stops for the Knights.
Clarkson finished the season with a 4-12 overall record.
