Knights See Three-Game Win Streak End to Utica, 57-45

Potsdam, NY – Mallory Davis scored a game-high 22 points on 7-for-8 shooting from the field as Utica used a pair of late runs to give the Pioneers a 57-45 victory over the Clarkson University Women’s Basketball team on Tuesday afternoon at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights saw their three-game winning streak come to a halt and dropped to 3-7 overall this season. Utica improved to 7-2. Clarkson returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Russell Sage.

In the first half, Utica steadily built its lead over the opening minutes, enjoying a double-digit advantage for most of the final eight minutes with a 23-12 lead with just three minutes remaining. The Golden Knights crawled back into the game with an 8-2 run over the final three minutes to close the gap to 25-19 at the end of the first half. Laura Keating scored 10 points to lead all scorers in the first 20 minutes.

Clarkson started the half with a 9-0 run over four minutes to take a small lead, but with the score tied 30-30, Utica ran off their own 10-0 run midway through the period to take control of the game. The Pioneers would maintain its lead throughout the second half, but the game would be reduced to a five-point advantage late. Another 7-0 run over the final two and a half minutes gave Utica its final 12-point lead.

Junior Adrienne Juby (Cold Spring, NY) enjoyed the best game of her collegiate career with a 13-point, 8-rebound showing in the losing effort for the Golden Knights. Senior Mickala Henson (Waverly, NY) added 9 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Keating scored 15 points on 5-for-11 shooting for the Pioneers. Ava Thomas also added 7 points, 11 rebounds and 4 steals for Utica.
