Oswego, NY - Senior Alicia Chace (Cortland, NY) scored a career-high 15 points on 6-for-11 shooting from the field, but her inspired play wasn't enough to push the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team to its third straight win as the Golden Knights fell 72-50 against Oswego State on Thursday evening.
The Golden Knights fell to 2-5 overall and will now take three weeks off for finals and the break between semesters. The team will return to action on December 30th when it takes on the RIT Tigers. Oswego State improved to 4-2.
Clarkson got off to a strong start with a 10-2 lead, but Oswego ran off 14 straight points and never looked back, leading by 15 at the break after a 16-2 run in the final seven minutes of the first half. Early in the second half, the Lakers lead dwindled to 12 points, but the Knights were unable to reduce the lead to single digits as Oswego steadily improved upon its lead, ending with the largest of the ballgame.
Chace was the only Clarkson player to reach double figures in scoring at 15 points, though Monica Thomas (Sandwich, MA) came close with 8 points and 6 rebounds. The Knights turned the ball over 30 times to Oswego's 14, though the teams shot close to the same percentages in the game (43.8% for Oswego, 36.2% for Clarkson). Heather Merino scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Lakers.
