Senior forward Mickala Henson (Waverly, NY) of the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team added to her lengthy resume of academic honors this week when she was honored as an ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America District 1 First-Team selection for the third consecutive year.

This was Henson's first selection to the First-Team, after having been named to the Second-Team in her sophomore and junior years. She will now move on to the national ballot.

Henson, who owns a 3.96 grade-point average in aeronautical engineering, is Clarkson's all-time leader in blocked shots with 132 and also holds the single-season record with 52. She ranks 22nd all-time at Clarkson in scoring (646 points) and is 14th all-time in rebounding (464 rebounds). On the academic side, Henson was honored as one of only four members of ROTC in the country to receive the Medal of Honor Scholarship and serves as President of Phalanx at Clarkson (the school's highest honorary society).

Henson became just the fourth athlete ever at Clarkson to earn Academic All-America honors on three occasions. Stephanie Sealer was selected for tennis in 1994 and both basketball and tennis in 1995; Ashton Fritz was picked for men's basketball in 1999, 2000 and 2002; and the baseball team's Tim Barcomb gained the notoriety in 2000, 2001 and 2002.
