Poughkeepsie, NY - Held without a goal for nearly 23 minutes in the middle of the game, the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team fell behind Vassar and couldn't recover as the Golden Knights dropped a 15-6 decision to the Brewers in Liberty League action Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Knights dropped their second straight game to fall to 4-9 overall and 1-7 in conference and were officially eliminated from the conference post-season picture. Vassar moved to 8-2 and 4-1 in league play.
Trailing by just two goals with just over 10 minute remaining in the first half, the Brewers defense buckled down against the Knights and went on an eight goal run to put the game out of reach for Clarkson. The Green and Gold were held scoreless for the final 10:31 of the first half and didn't record another point until more than 12 minutes had elapsed in the second half.
Sophomore Emily Bojarski (Syracuse, NY) scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Knights, pushing her season scoring total to 49 points, the second-highest single-season figure in Clarkson history. Junior Alicia Chace (Cortland, NY) also produced two goals while freshmen Jenna Stock (Johnstown, NY) and Kim Loucks (Waterloo, NY) came through with one goal each. Meagan Emlaw (Norfolk, NY) made 13 saves in net for the Knights.
Ali Fantl led Vassar with four goals and three assists for seven points and Christine Eaccarino also added three goals. The Brewers out shot Clarkson 33-27 and held a slim advantage in groundballs, 21-18.
