Nick Dodge Named 2007 All-American

April 6, 2007

2007 All-American, Nick Dodge
Add another honor to the exceptional resume of Clarkson University Hockey’s Nick Dodge. The Golden Knights’ captain was named to the 2007 RBK All-American squad, announced Friday night in St. Louis, MO by the American Hockey Coaches Association.

As a junior, Dodge led the Knights to one of Clarkson’s  best seasons ever with a 25-9-5 record, winning the ECAC Hockey League Tournament Championship and earning the number one seed in the NCAA East Regional, the Knights’ first appearance in the national tourney since 1999.

A second-team selection at forward, Dodge becomes the 35th Golden Knight to earn All-America accolades and the first Clarkson player to earn the prestigious honor in six years.

“Nick fought through a number of injuries this year, yet continued to lead our team to its best season during my tenure,” remarked Clarkson head coach George Roll. “Nick’s importance is not measured by the number of points he gets. He does so many of the little things well, the intangibles that make for a successful team. Nick is a complete leader and a difference maker who is used in every critical situation. He excels at both ends of the ice, wins key draws and is great on specialty teams. He is the top penalty-killer on our team and the leader on one of the top power plays in the country. The more you watch Nick play, the more you appreciate the impact he has on the game.”

A complete all-around player, Dodge excelled in all aspects of the game during the 2006-07 campaign. Named a first-team ECACHL all-star at the end of the regular season, the 5-10, 184-pound center led the Green and Gold in points per game, averaging 1.08 PPG. Through 36 games, Dodge scored 39 points on 18 goals and 21 assists. He was a strong specialty teams player with a team-high nine power-play markers to go along with one shorthanded tally and two game-winners. He helped the Green and Gold lead the ECACHL in scoring with 3.36 goals per game in conference matchups and 3.49 GPG overall. Dodge had 20 points in 19 league games with eight goals and 12 assists.

The Oakville, Ontario native was one of the top faceoff men in the country, winning 56% of his draws (489-389) and posted a +12 rating. He had nine multiple-point games and leads all current Knights in career points with 98 (40-58) through 111 games.

Dodge was named CSTV/HCA National Player of the Month – December, and was chosen MVP of the Badger Showdown after recording five points (4-1) in the tourney. He posted his first career hat trick in the 6-2 win over Wisconsin (12/29) and followed with a power-play goal and one assist in the 3-2 victory over Lake Superior in the championship game (12/30). He recorded a career-high four points (1-3) in the 4-2 win at Yale (12/1).

Named ECACHL Player of the Week once (1/2), Dodge was also named to the league’s all-academic team for the second consecutive year.

The RBK All-America Ice Hockey teams are sponsored by RBK Hockey, an international leader in hockey equipment, and chosen
by members of the American Hockey Coaches Association.
