Senior Hilary Lockwood (Victor, NY) has spent nearly four full seasons with the Clarkson University Volleyball program and has earned several honors in that time, but the highest of all came on Thursday when she was picked as an ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-American.
Lockwood, who was chosen for the District I Academic All-American Second-Team, is an Environmental Science major at Clarkson and spent last semester in New Zealand. She has a rigorous community service record which includes providing time for Girl Scouts, Breast Cancer walks, Relay for Life, Fragile X Syndrome black tie events, and Special Olympics.
Along with performing well in the classroom, Lockwood has served as one of the top players in the history of Clarkson Volleyball as well. Her 977 kills rank fifth all-time for the Golden Knights, and her 161 aces are the third-highest figure ever Clarkson. She has also posted 577 digs, 224 assists, and 121 blocks in nearly 500 games played.
Lockwood became the third player ever selected as a CoSIDA Academic All-American, joining Suzanne Clarvoe (2005 and 2006) and Heather Sill (2004). She is also the third Clarkson University athlete selected this fall, along with the men's soccer team's Scott Desmond (Second Team) and the women's soccer team's Christie Knapp (Third Team).
