Junior first baseman Matt Holiday (Syracuse, NY) performed both on the field and in the classroom for the Clarkson University Baseball team and was selected as an ESPN The Magazine CoSIDA Academic All-American, making the District 1 First-Team.

Holiday, who majors in Financial Information Analysis with a minor in Economics, boasts an impressive grade-point average and was selected as a Liberty League Second-Team All-Star as well. As a District 1 First-Team selection, Holiday is now eligible for selection as a National Academic All-American.

Holiday had a break out season offensively and defensively for the Knights, batting .311 through 35 games. He also slugged .598, leading the conference in home runs with seven. Holiday drove in 40 runs, the third-highest figure in Clarkson history, and led the team in runs scored (35), total bases (73), and extra-base hits (19). His .994 fielding percentage at first base was also one of the top defensive figures in the Liberty League.

Holiday is the first baseball player to be named as an Academic All-American for Clarkson since JJ Lorence in 2005.
