Nationally-Ranked Clarkson Takes Well Deserved Break

Tegan Schroeder is one of the many unsung heros who have helped to lead Clarkson to its early-season success.

Facing perhaps the toughest season-opening stretch of games in the country, the Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team more than met the challenge, and now takes a well deserved break from play this weekend. Guided  by second-year head coaches Shannon and Matt Desrosiers, the Golden Knights stand at 12-2-1 overall and are atop the ECAC Hockey standings with a 6-1 league mark.

Led by senior captain Britney Selina (Thornhill, ONT) and senior assistant captain Carlee Eusepi (Oakville, ONT), Clarkson is ranked second/third in the country in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine and USCHO.com national polls. The Green and Gold have played eight games against nationally-ranked teams, going 6-1-1 against the elite competition.

This past weekend, the Knights suffered their first league loss of the year, falling 2-0 at seventh-ranked Cornell on Friday, but came back with a convincing 4-1 victory at Colgate on Saturday.

Clarkson closes out a six-game road trip next weekend when it travels out west to take on second-ranked University of Minnesota in a key two-game series in Minneapolis on November 27-28. The Knights round out the 2009-portion of the schedule on December 4-5 by hosting ECAC Hockey rivals Quinnipiac and Princeton at Cheel Arena.
