Sophomore Sara Artus Selected as AVCA All-American

Senior Jenna Stock Named All-Region

Sophomore Sara Artus became Clarkson Volleyball's first All-American.

An outstanding season by the Clarkson University Volleyball team was sure to reap some rewards, and on Tuesday the Golden Knights had two players earn AVCA honors as sophomore Sara Artus (St. Regis Falls, NY) was selected as a Honorable Mention All-American and First-Team All-Region (NYS) and senior Jenna Stock (Johnstown, NY) was picked for Honorable Mention All-Region.

Artus became the first player in program history to receive All-American status. A First-Team All-Liberty League performer, Artus led the conference in kills (506) and kills per set (4.25), which ranked in the top 20 nationally. She also ranked sixth in the league in hitting percentage at .226. She also was among the team leaders in aces (33), blocks (35) and digs (268).

Stock, who achieved an all-region nod for the first time in her career, finished just one-hundredth of a point off the lead in the conference for assists per set and had the second-most in a single season at Clarkson (1,113). Her 134 kills led to a .304 hitting percentage, which would have been the best in the conference had she had enough attempts to qualify. She also ranked among the top performers for Clarkson in digs (265), blocks (29), and aces (42).

The Golden Knights made their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in program history in 2009, and finished the season with their best winning percentage (.800, with a record of 28-7) in school history.
