Annville, PA - Struggling from the 3-point arc throughout, the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team was unable to stop a strong second-half run by Neumann University as the Golden Knights dropped a 75-52 decision in the second round of Lebanon Valley College Tournament.
The Golden Knights dropped to 0-3, and are now off until next Sunday when they open the home portion of the schedule against Plattsburgh State. Neumann picked up its first win, improving to 1-2 overall.
The game was tight in the first half, though Neumann used a late run to push its lead to 34-27 by intermission. However, the Knights, who shot 1-for-5 from beyond the 3-point line in the first half, continued to come up short. Clarkson went 0-for-9 in the second half from long range, producing long rebounds that allowed Neumann to score 41 points in the final 20 minutes.
Sophomore guard Carey Turner (Clifton Park, NY) led the Knights with 16 points and 10 rebounds while Michelle Reddinger (Baldwinsville, NY) added in 10 points and six rebounds. Neumann finished with four players in double figures, led by Cecily Scavicchio’s 15 points. Brittany Whetts had 13 points and 13 rebounds and Katie Young had a game-high 17 rebounds.
