Knights Take Seventh Straight with Win at Dartmouth

Hanover, NH - Allowing a goal or less for the fifth straight game, junior goaltender Lauren Dahm (Baldwinsville, NY) stopped 24 shots to help lead the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team to a 3-1 victory over Darmouth University, its seventh straight victory, Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights, ranked number-two in the country, improved to 11-1-1 overall and a perfect 5-0-0 in ECAC Hockey play. Dartmouth dropped to 1-2-1. Clarkson will visit central New York foes Cornell and Colgate next weekend.

For the fourth straight game, the Knights were held scoreless in the first period, but the team was able to get on the scoreboard first in the second period. Daris Tendler (Verwood, SASK) tallied her second goal of the season early on in the frame, receiving a pass from Britney Selina (Thornhill, ONT) at 5:36. The Big Green responded with a goal four minutes later, tallying on the power play, to tie the score up 1-1.

Utilizing a five-on-three opportunity, the Knights were able to reclaim the lead for good at 14:26 in the second period. Junior Melissa Waldie (Newmarket, ONT) joined two teammates for the team lead in goals (8) when she scored with six seconds remaining in the two-player advantage. Carlee Eusepi (Oakville, ONT) and Juana Baribeau (Amos, QUE) each were awarded assists.

Clarkson picked up an insurance goal in the opening minute of the third period and held on from there to take their second straight road win. Selina scored her sixth goal of the season, with Baribeau assisting for the second time in the game, just 29 seconds into the final stanza.

Dahm finished with 24 saves and Mariel Lacina made 20 stops for Dartmouth. The Big Green narrowly out shot Clarkson, 25-23. Clarkson went 1-for-4 on the power play while Dartmouth was 1-for-8.
