With three first-place finishes in four races, the Clarkson University Alpine Ski team started in 2010 the same way they seem to start every season, winning the first event of the season at the Colgate Invitational.
The Golden Knights claimed first place in all four races as a team, with the men and women winning the slalom and giant slalom events.
Sophomore Cedrik Proteau-Dubois (Ste-Adele, QUE), a USCSA All-American as a freshman won the slalom, with classmate JP Phaneuf (Montreal, QUE) following in second place and freshman David Simon (Montvale, NJ) coming in third in his first collegiate event. Phaneauf won both runs in the giant slalom to take first place, while Proteau-Dubois came in sixth and Simon following in seventh.
On the women's side, sophomore Sophie LeBlanc (Cumberland, ME) took first by winning both runs of the giant slalom. Sophomore Jill Clevenger (LaGrangeville, NY) and freshman Katherine Jondro (Waitsfield, VT) took sixth in the event. Clevenger appeared to perhaps be on her way to a win in the slalom, pacing the field after the first run, but did not finish her second run. The Knights still ended up in first in that event, thanks to a second-place finish by Meghan Cleason (Canandaigua, NY) and a fourth-place showing from Jondro. Senior Emma Masur (Wayne, NJ) rounded out Clarkson's top three by finishing in 17th place.
