Saratoga Springs, NY - Senior Michelle Reddinger (Baldwinsville, NY) followed up a record-breaking performance on Tuesday with another near double-double, but the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team's strong first half was withstood by Skidmore as the Thoroughbreds defeated the Golden Knights 63-48 in Liberty League action Friday night.
The Golden Knights fell to 3-11 overall and 0-4 in conference games, while Skidmore moved to 12-2 overall and 4-0 in the Liberty Leauge. Clarkson looks to get back on the winning track against Union College on Saturday afternoon.
Clarkson jumped out to a nine-point lead early and held an eight-point advantage after a Sierra Noles (Averill Park, NY) lay up at 11:20, but the Thoroughbreds closed the gap and took the lead late in the half, finishing the first 20 minutes up by four, 33-29.
The Knights trailed by just six points midway through the second half, but a 3-pointer from Dana Leonard sparked a Skidmore run over the final 11 minutes that saw the Thoroughbreds outscore Clarkson 17-8.
Reddinger, following up a 39-point effort on Tuesday against St. Lawrence, scored 18 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to lead Clarkson. Sophomore Carey Turner (Clifton Park, NY) contributed 10 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists for the Knights.
Christina Gargiso led Skidmore with 15 points and 3 steals in 18 minutes. Sharlyn Harper added 12 points and Dana Leonard produced 11 points and 7 rebounds.
