Desmond and Toscano Named ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-Americans

Senior Jeremy Toscano became the eight Clarkson Men's Soccer player to be chosen as ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-American
Seniors Scott Desmond (Enfield, CT) and Jeremy Toscano (Brockport, NY) joined an exclusive club Tuesday afternoon, as the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team members were chosen as ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-Americans for District 1, and both were chosen as First-Team members.

As First-Team members from District 1, both Desmond and Toscano will be eligible for the National-Team ballot in the coming weeks.

Desmond, who became only the fifth student-athlete in Clarkson history to gain Academic All-American notice in three different seasons, owns a 3.82 grade-point average in Interdisciplinary Engineering and Management, and was also named the ECAC Scholar Athlete of the Year in September, the only Division III Male winner among the 300-plus ECAC schools. Desmond, who was a three-time Liberty League All-Star and the conference's Rookie of the Year in 2007, has also served as the President of S.A.A.C. for the past two years, participating in the 2009 NCAA National Student-Athlete Development Conference.

Toscano, who was picked for the Academic All-American honor for the first time in his impressive career as a student-athlete at Clarkson, sports a 3.93 grade-point average in Biomolecular Science. A three-time member of Liberty League All-Academic team, Toscano has started all but four games over the course of his career at Clarkson, anchroing the Clarkson defensive efforts. Toscano has volunteered for numerous S.A.A.C. events, including Special Olympics Awareness Day and Community Clean-Up.
