Senior Kimberly Loucks (Waterloo, NY) scored five goals and freshman Alyssa Cristaldi (North Syracuse, NY) tallied four goals and one assist to power the attack for the Clarkson University Women’s Lacrosse team in its second straight win, a 15-14 overtime victory against Fredonia State in West Palm Beach, FL on Tuesday night.
Tied 13-13 after regulation, Cristaldi and Loucks scored unassisted goals in the six-minute overtime session to lift the Golden Knights to the win.
In a well played game throughout, between two well-disciplined and well-coached teams, Clarkson held an 8-7 advantage after the opening 30 minutes before Fredonia came back in the second half to out score the Green and Gold 6-5 to force overtime.
Freshman Katie VanDeValk (Baldwinsville, NY) scored twice for the Knights, while junior Robyn Baumgartner (Bethel, CT) and sophomores Laura Barlow (Latham, NY), Alyssa Dausman (Syracuse, NY) tallied one goal each.
Sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Walters (Amherst, NH) made 14 saves as Fredonia out shot Clarkson 38-32.
Amy Simon scored five goals for Fredonia.
Both teams recorded 15 groundballs with Loucks and freshman defenseman Jeannette Pendergast (Greenfield Center, NY) leading the Knights with three apiece.
At 2-0 overall, Clarkson returns from Florida to host Potsdam State this Saturday on the new artificial turf at Hantz Field, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
