Senior Kimberly Loucks (Waterloo, NY) tallied four goals to become the Clarkson University Women’s Lacrosse team’s all-time leading goal scorer, but it came in a losing effort as the Golden Knights suffered a heart-breaking 15-14 defeat to Vassar College in Liberty League action at Hantz Turf Field on Friday afternoon.

Clarkson led 8-4 after the first half against the Brewers and held a two-goal lead with just over 10 minutes to play, only to see Vassar (5-6, 1-4) rallied for the conference victory.

Golden Knight freshman Alyssa Cristaldi (North Syracuse, NY), who led all scorers with a game-high 10 points, tallied her fifth goal of the contest with 10:01 remaining to put Clarkson on top 14-12.

The Brewers, who outscored the Green and Gold 11-6 in the second half, rallied for the win by scoring the final three goals of the contest. Allie Morgan started the final offensive burst for Vassar with her fourth goal of the game at 7:57 to make it 14-13. Larisa Lasko connected off an assist from Sarah Warner at 3:46 to tie the game, and then came through with the game-winner with four seconds left in regulation. Lasko finished off an assist from Moe Byrne on a shot from the top of the crease for her third goal of the day to give the Brewers their only lead of the contest.

Through 54 career games, Loucks has amassed a school-record 134 goals and adds 29 assists for 163 points. She is just seven points shy of Clarkson’s all-time points mark of 170 (132-38) set by Emily Bojarski (2006-09).

Freshman Katie VanDeValk (Baldwinsville, NY) connected twice for Clarkson against Vassar, while junior Saryn Campbell (West Bolton, VT), sophomore Alyssa Dausman (Syracuse, NY) and freshman Kerrie Cline (Tuxedo, NY) added one goal apiece for the Green and Gold.

Warner led the Brewers with a team-high five goals and four assists. Morgan tallied four goals, while Elizabeth Feltch added two and Byrne chipped in one goal to round out the Vassar scoring.

Clarkson outshot the Brewers 32-28, while Vassar controlled groundballs 22-10.

Heather Kesselman was a difference maker in the Vassar goal, turning aside all three shots (all point blank attempts by Clarkson) she faced coming off the bench in the final 7:57 of play to record the win. Nicole Engelhardt started for the Brewers and made nine saves through 52:03 of action.

Sophomore Hannah Walters (Amherst, NH) made eight stops for the Knights.

At 6-5 overall and 0-4 in the conference, Clarkson hosts Rensselaer tomorrow in a 2:00 p.m. game.
