Grad student Nick Tremblay (Candiac, QUE) recorded his second career two-goal game and senior Paul Karpowich (Thunder Bay, ONT) posted 27 saves as the Clarkson University Hockey team improved its record against Atlantic Hockey foes to 6-0-1 on the year after shutting out Holy Cross 5-0 at the Hart Recreation Center in Worcester, MA on Sunday evening.
Clarkson, which opened a nine-game road trip with a 4-3 loss to Maine in Portland, ME last night, stands at 8-5-3 overall. The Golden Knights resume ECAC Hockey action in Central NY this coming weekend, playing at Colgate and Cornell. Holy Cross, which defeated Brown 2-0 on Saturday, falls to 5-7.

Clarkson scored goals early in the first and second periods and then put the game away in the third with three goals in a span of six minutes to equal its highest offensive outing of the season.
Tremblay opened the scoring 3:19 into the first period, completing a rush up ice with classmate Louke Oakley (Whitby, ONT) and freshman defenseman Sam Labrecque (Granby, QUE) assisting.

Just 63 seconds into the middle frame, Clarkson scored again. Junior defenseman Andrew Himelson (Monroe, NY) recorded his first goal of the season when he stopped a clearing pass in the Holy Cross zone and flipped in a quick wrist shot from the point through traffic for an unassisted score.

The Knights put the game away in the final stanza with a three-goal outburst.
Tremblay netted his second of the game and team-high ninth of the season at 6:54 when he scored on a breakaway shortly after Clarkson had killed off a Crusader power play.

At 11:49, senior Corey Tamblyn (Bobcaygeon, ONT) converted a pass from sophomore linemate Will Frederick (Allison Park, PA) to make it a 4-0 game.

Just 63 seconds later, freshman Patrick Marsh (Oakville, ONT) picked up his first collegiate point when he knocked in his own rebound to complete the scoring. Freshman defenseman James Howden (Edgeley, SASK) and sophomore Jarrett Burton (Echo Bay, ONT) set up the rookie’s first career goal.

Clarkson outshot Holy Cross 33-27. Karpowich posted his sixth career shutout with 11 first-period saves, nine stops in the second and seven more over the final 20 minutes.

With Karpowich in the Green and Gold crease, the Knights have posted four shutouts this season, the most in a single season since Clarkson notched six whitewashes during the 2007-08 campaign.
Both teams were 0-of-2 on the power play. Thomas Tysowsky finished with 28 saves for Holy Cross.
