The Knights gained two points in league play at home over the weekend, defeating Rensselaer 4-1 on Friday before falling to defending conference regular season champion, 11th-ranked Union 3-1 on Saturday.
Senior Corey Tamblyn (Bobcaygeon, ONT) led the way offensively against the Engineers with his second career two-goal outing. He also tallied twice in the 3-2 overtime win at RPI last season (1/7). Tamblyn’s first goal on Friday came with 8.9 seconds remaining in the first to take the momentum away from RPI, which had taken a 1-0 lead less than two minutes before. After the Dutchmen built their margin to 3-0 early in the final frame, Clarkson battled back and ended outshooting the Dutchmen 14-4 in the period. Senior Julien Cayer (Longueuil, QUE) put the Knights on the scoreboard midway through the stanza. Clarkson had several good opportunities to score in the final minutes, but was not able to get another goal past the Dutchmen.
