Six Named to Liberty League All-Star Squad for Clarkson Men's Lacrosse

Senior Mike Perkins (Baldwinsville, NY) and junior Eric Gollands (Chelmsford, MA) highlighted six members from the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team that were picked as 2011 Liberty League All-Stars on Thursday.

Perkins and Gollands were named to the Liberty League First-Team, while junior Bryan Huff (Hillsborough, NJ) and sophomore Ryan Cole (Orchard Park, NY) were chosen to the Second-Team. Junior Matt Davidson (Hilton, NY) and sophomore Matt McCabe (Syracuse, NY) were picked as Honorable Mention All-Stars.

Perkins, a first-team all-star defenseman, led the team with 21 caused turnovers and was among the team leaders with 25 groundballs. He started all 14 games for a team that was among the top defensive squads in the conference and in the region. Gollands, a first-team midfield selection, was among the team leaders with 23 points. He ranked second on the team in goals with 18 and had five assists. He also had 10 groundballs.

Huff, a second-team selection for the second straight season, led the Golden Knights with 20 goals and 30 points, also adding in 10 assists. He scooped up 21 groundballs, among the team's best. Cole, picked as a second-team all-star after being named an honorable mention as a freshman, posted a 8.98 goals against average and a .571 save percentage with 41 groundballs. His 144 saves this season rank first in the Liberty League.

Davidson, an honorable mention all-star for the first time in his career, ranked second on the team in caused turnovers with 16 and ranked only behind Cole with 31 groundballs. McCabe, an honorable mention all-star for the second straight year, led the conference with four game-winning goals and was sixth in assists with 14. He totaled 27 points on the season with 13 goals accompanying his 14 assists.

Clarkson will look to return to the NCAA Tournament this weekend when they play Union College on Friday in the first-round of the Liberty League Championships.
