Knights Add Three Academic All-Americans to At-Large Teams

Seniors Saryn Campbell (West Bolton, VT), Alyssa Dausman (Syracuse, NY), and JP Phaneuf (Montreal, QUE) all earned Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-American At-Large honors recently, polishing off impressive collegiate careers at Clarkson University.

The At-Large team is one of the most difficult squads on which to earn honors, as multiple sports without their own teams all vie for a spot. All three student-athletes were chosen to the District 3 First-Team.

Campbell, a member of the Golden Knights' women's lacrosse team, had a 3.676 cumulative grade-point average in civil engineering through her first seven semesters at Clarkson. In 2012 she was rewarded for an outstanding season by being selected as a Liberty League First-Team All-Star, scoring 36 goals with 13 assists for a total of 49 points, a career-high. She also surpassed the 100-point plateau in her career, and led the Golden Knights in draw controls (58), groundballs (43), and caused turnovers (15).

Teammate Alyssa Dausman was a three-sport standout for the Golden Knights, competing at a high level in women's lacrosse, women's soccer, and nordic skiing. It was during the winter that Dausman, who had a 3.797 GPA in civil engineering through seven semesters, excelled most, finishing in the top three at the USCSA National Championships in several races. On the turf during the spring, Dausman was an outstanding defensive midfielder, scoring 11 caused turnovers along with 31 draw controls and 30 groundballs. She also tacked on six points with three goals and three assists.

Phaneuf, who had a 3.755 GPA in supply chain management, was a four-year star for Clarkson's alpine skiing team. Named Clarkson's Male Scholar Athlete of the Year this spring, Phaneuf earned top honors as the USCSA MacConnell Division Skier of the Year by placing first or second in seven of the 10 individual races during the regular season. He ended in 19th place in the slalom at the USCSA National Championships.
