Entering the first full weekend of conference play, the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team will look to earn their first Liberty League win as they travel to take on the Union College Dutchwomen at 2:00 pm on Friday, followed by playing the Rensselaer Engineers at 5:00 pm on Saturday.
Union enters the weekend with a 3-3-0 record overall, splitting a pair of league games last week with a 1-0 loss to Skidmore College followed by a 1-0 win over Bard College. Union has owned the overall series against the Golden Knights, going 19-0-1 and outscoring Clarkson 82-8. Offense hasn't come easily for the Dutchwomen this season, as they've only scored five goals in six games. Leading scorer Whitney Bickford has tallied two goals on the season, while Allison Brustowicz has started all six games in net, recording 30 saves and posting three shutouts.
Despite dropping out of the national rankings this week after a loss to Mount St. Mary College (NY) last week, RPI comes in with a record of 5-2-1 and will play its first two conference games against St. Lawrence and Clarkson this weekend. The Engineers have gotten the better of the Knights in the all-time series, going 17-10-3 and outscoring Clarkson 51-46. Scoring hasn't been an issue, as they've outscored opponents 18-8 this season. Sara Rothschild has led all scorers with five goals Alex Scholz has started five out eight games in net, going 4-0-0 while recording 19 saves and one shutout.
The Golden Knights enter this weekend with a 3-6-0 record after losing their first league game to RIT last Saturday. Despite the loss, Clarkson looked good on defense, not allowing many scoring opportunities and holding a very good RIT team to just two goals. Kim Kenline (Akron, NY) has started every game in goal for the Green and Gold, and five players have each scored a goal for Clarkson.
