Kirkemo Named Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District

Junior Victoria Kirkemo (Englewood, CO) has displayed excellence on both the court and in the classroom in five semesters for the Clarkson University Volleyball team, and on Thursday she was honored as a Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All District (District 3) winner, the fourth straight year a member of the Golden Knights Volleyball team has earned such an honor.

Kirkemo, one of seven student-athletes to earn District 3 honors, becomes the sixth Clarkson Volleyball player to earn the honor since 2003, joining three-time winner Erika Chin, two-time selection Suzanne Clarvoe, Sara Artus, Hilary Lockwood and Heather Sill. She is also the third athlete from Clarkson to gain the honor this fall, joining soccer players Trevor Blackwell and Nikki Carfi.

Kirkemo, who owns a 3.40 grade-point average in Chemical Engineering, is a two-time Liberty League All-Star and was the Liberty League Rookie of the Year in 2012. This season, she ranks third in the Liberty League in kills per set (3.29 kps) and first in aces per set (0.88 aps) while slotting in eighth in hitting percentage (.250). More impressively, Kirkemo leads the nation in total aces with 101 and is the third ranking active player in all of Division III with 262 in her career. Additionally, she is 28th among active players in kills (1249) and 10th in aces per set. Her career totals kills (1249, fifth), aces (262, second), and digs (1048, tenth) are among the program's all-time leaders.
