John Coleman Tabbed as Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-American

For the second straight year, junior John Coleman (Potsdam, NY) of the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team has earned Captial One/CoSIDA Academic All-American national honors, this time being elevated to the First-Team.

Coleman, a mathematics major with a 3.98 cumulative grade-point average, has earned three CoSIDA Academic All-District honors across basketball and baseball, and this is his second time on the national squad, as he was selected as a Second-Team member in 2012-13. He is one of only two juniors across the three national teams (15 student-athletes) to earn the honor this year.

Along with his prowess in the classroom, Coleman has excelled on the court once again this year. He leads the Liberty League in field goal percentage (57.6%) and steals (2.4 spg) while ranking third in the league in scoring at 18.8 points per game. He has recorded 13 20-plus games in 22 contests this year and has four double-doubles. His 185 field goals are the fifth most makes in a single-season at Clarkson, and his 53 steals are the eighth best single-year total.

Coleman is also moving up the all-time rankings at Clarkson this season. He became just the 19th player in school history to record 1,000 career points and is up to 1,128, up to 14th all-time. He also became the 14th player in the past 40 years to surpass 500 career rebounds, and ranks sixth all-time in steals (149). Coleman is also closing in on the Clarkson mark for most field goals made in a career, as he has converted 512 field goal attempts, just 27 of tying the all-time mark (Ashton Fritz, 539).
