Clarkson Duo Gains All-American Honors

HAMDEN, Conn. – Two standouts who have played key roles in Clarkson University Women's Hockey team's best season ever, Jamie Lee Rattray and Erin Ambrose, were honored by the American Hockey Coaches Association with 2014 CCM Division I Women's Hockey All-American accolades at the NCAA Women's Frozen Four banquet Thursday evening.

Rattray, a senior forward from Kanata, ONT, and Ambrose, a sophomore defender from Keswick, ONT, were named First Team All-Americans, joining Kira Hurley '07 as the only Golden Knights to earn the prestigious honor. Hurley was a second-team selection in her junior year (2005-06).

Also a Top 3 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award finalist, Rattray is a dynamic offensive threat every time she hits the ice. She is tied for second in the country in goals with goals 28 and in points with 62 through 39 games. Rattray Leads the nation in power-play goals (9) and is tied for seventh in Division I in game-winners (5). She posts a +38 plus/minus rating. An assistant captain, she set up all three goals in the Green and Gold's 3-1 NCAA Tr. win over Boston College last Saturday. Rattray was also honored earlier this month as ECAC Hockey Player of the Year, Clarkson's first ever recipient of the prestigious award. Rattray is the Knights' all-time leading scorer with 177 career points on 76 goals and 101 assists through 145 games.

Ambrose combines prolific offensive skills and tenacious defensive play as the premier defenseman in the country in her second season of collegiate play. A Top 10 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award finalist, she has missed last the two games with an injury, but still leads Division I in scoring from the blueline with 50 points (7 more than any other defender in the country). Ambrose is second among all players in the nation for assists per game with 35. She boasts a team-high +44. Named co-winner of ECAC Hockey's Best Defensive defenseman Award earlier this month, Ambrose is Clarkson's all-time leading scoring defenseman with 86 career points (20-66) in 71 career games.

The 2014 NCAA Women's Frozen Four begins with two semifinal games on Friday, March 21. Minnesota faces Wisconsin at 5:00 p.m., and Clarkson and Mercyhurst face off in the second semifinal at 8:00 p.m. The semifinal winners meet in Sunday's national championship game at 3:00 p.m. All three games will be played at Quinnipiac's High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center and streamed live online at NCAA.com.
