Three More Golden Knights Gain Capital One/CoSIDA All-District Notice

Three more student-athletes were added to the long list of Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District winners from Clarkson University on Thursday as senior Vanessa Gagnon (St. Constant, QUE) of the women's hockey team, senior Christian Perryman (West Lebanon, NH) of the alpine ski team, and sophomore Christine Wright (Watertown, NY) of the women's lacrosse team joined numerous Golden Knights from years past as honorees for the At-Large teams who excelled in both the classroom and in their athletic endeavors.

Gagnon and Perryman are repeat winners of the honor, while Wright became the 62nd student-athlete to earn CoSIDA All-District honors from Clarkson University in the past 30-plus years. Gagnon and Perryman became the 26th and 27th student-athletes from Clarkson to receive the honor on more than one occasion. It was the second straight year that Clarkson University has earned eight all-district honors from Capital One/CoSIDA, the most that the school has ever received. Both John Coleman (Potsdam, NY) and Erika Chin (Katy, TX) went on to earn Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-American status thus far.

Gagnon continues to add to her long list of accolades this season. An assistant captain for Clarkson's National Champion Women's Hockey team, Gagnon was also the recipient of the Sarah Devens Award, ECAC Hockey's Mandi Schwartz Student-Athlete of the Year and an NCAA Elite 89 award winner. The senior forward scored 18 goals, including five game-winners, and 15 assists along with boasting a +43 plus/minus rating to help the Golden Knights win the University's first-ever NCAA Championship title this past March.

Perryman, who like Gagnon earned the honor as a CoSIDA All-District winner in 2012-13, finished 16th overall at the USCSA Nationals held in Lake Placid, NY. He came in 21st in the giant slalom and 21st in the slalom after taking 10th and 17th, respectively, in the same events at the USCSA Eastern Regionals. Perryman battled injuries as a senior, but still ranked highly in the MacConnell Division rankings, where he was a two-time all-star (ranking in the top 15 in the conference) in his sophomore and junior seasons.

Wright fell short of a nomination for CoSIDA consideration in the fall due to injury during the soccer season, but her outstanding campaign in 2014 for the Golden Knights women's lacrosse team had her name among the region's elite this spring. In 15 games, Wright Scored 30 goals and added 24 assists for 54 total points, surpassing the 100-point mark in her 25th game, the second-fasted run in school history. Wright was named the Liberty League Rookie of the Year in 2013 and is a two-time Liberty League Second-Team All-Star after ranking in the top 10 in the conference in goals, assists, and points per game.
