Coleman and Jasek Named ECAC All-Stars

Clarkson University Baseball standouts, John Coleman (Potsdam, NY) and Greg Jasek (Chittenango, NY) have been selected as 2014 First-Team Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Upstate Baseball All-Stars.

Coleman, a junior shortstop, batted .292 with a team-leading 35 hits, and ranked second in runs (19), runs batted in (16) and stolen bases (10). Coleman also struck out only four times in 120 at bats in 2014, including a stretch of 57 at bats without a whiff. Even more impressively, Coleman committed only four errors in 147 chances at short. Coleman, Clarkson's co-Male Athlete of the Year, was earlier named a
Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-American Third-Team and a First-Team Liberty League All-Star.

As a sophomore, Jasek gained notoriety this year with a selection as a utility player, enjoying an outstanding season both at the plate and on the mound. He led the team with a .310 batting average and was second with a .460 slugging percentage, combining that power with only eight strikeouts in 100 at bats. He also topped the team with 10 doubles and contributed 31 hits, 15 runs, and 14 runs batted in. On the hill, he was 5-3 with five complete games and a 2.68 earned run average. He ranked among the conference leaders with 53 strikeouts in 57 at bats, allowing only a .248 batting average to the opposition. Jasek was also named a First-Team Liberty League All-Star.

The Golden Knights finished the season with a record of 19-13 overall, the team's highest winning percentage since 2005, and 14-7 in the conference, reaching the conference tournament for the first time since 2011.
