Clarkson Wins Final Home Game 5-0

In the final home game of the year, the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team dominated both halves en route to a 5-0 win against visiting SUNY Canton on Tuesday night on Hantz Turf Field.

Clarkson is now 8-5-2 on the season while Canton falls to 6-7-2. The eight wins for the Golden Knights are the highest since 2011.

The Green and Gold opened the scoring in the 17th minute. Madison Kather found Sabrina Sepowski at the top of the Canton box, with Sepowski turning and finishing into the lower right corner. Clarkson doubled its lead in the 25th minute when Caitlin Swanson hit a shot from 25 yards out that found the back of the net.

In the 47th minute, Clarkson's two leading scorers combined for a third goal. Summer Gillespie's pass found Lauren Flynn who scored. It was Flynn's team-leading seventh goal and Gillespie's sixth assist. Flynn now has 25 career points, which is tied for 13th all-time, while Gillespie's 18 points this season is tied for the seventh-best single season total in Clarkson history.

Kather scored the team's fourth goal, as well as her fourth goal of the year, when Abby Gruniesen knocked down a corner kick and then Kather's shot bounced in off the post. Swanson put a bow on the scoring when she scored her second goal of the game off a pass from Tori Sailor.

Clarkson held a 15-7 advantage in shots and a 10-2 edge in corner kicks. Anna Demasi played the first 57 minutes in goal and made three saves with Nicole Zlotnick finishing up the shutout.

Clarkson will next travel to William Smith for a 3:00 pm game.
