Mercer, Tiley Earn ECAC Hockey Monthly Honors

Cayley Mercer and Shea Tiley, a pair of standouts for the nationally-ranked Clarkson University Women's Hockey team, have earned monthly honors from ECAC Hockey.

A junior, forward from Exeter, ONT, Mercer was named the conference's Player of the Month for October. Tiley, a sophomore from Owen Sound, ONT was selected as the league's Goaltender of the Month. Mercer and Tiley played key roles for the Golden Knights in the opening month of the season, helping fourth-ranked Clarkson post a 9-0-2 overall record, including a 0-0-2 ECAC Hockey mark.

Mercer is the league's leading scorer, averaging 1.64 ppg on 11 goals and seven assists. She posted back-to-back hat tricks in the Green and Gold's sweep of New Hampshire and has recorded at least one point in each of the first 11 games, including six games with two-or-more points. She has twice been named ECAC Hockey Player of the Week (Oct. 6 & Oct. 27).

Tiley has started nine of 11 games to help backstop Clarkson to its best start ever, posting a 7-0-2 personal mark during October. She only surrendered 11 goals, while recording a 1.20 goals-against average; and has already posted three shutouts. For the month, Tiley made 195 saves, while registering a .947 save percentage. She was also named conference goaltender of the week once during October as well.

Clarkson closes out a four-game road trip this weekend, playing at Union on Friday, 7:00 p.m., at at Rensselaer on Saturday, 4:00 p.m.
