The Clarkson University Hockey team suffered a setback in its bid to solidify a top four spot in the ECAC Hockey standings with a 2-1 loss to Princeton at Hobey Baker Rink in New Jersey on Friday night.

With five games remaining the Golden Knights fall to sixth place in the conference with an 8-7-2 ECAC Hockey mark. At 11-14-4 overall, Clarkson plays at league leader Quinnipiac on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in Hamden, CT.

Clarkson started strong in its longest road trip of the season, outshooting Princeton (4-17-2, 2-14-1) 10-5 through the opening 20 minutes en route to a 1-0 lead.

Freshman defenseman Terrance Amorosa (Kirkland, QUE) put the Green and Gold on top at 13:15 of the period, connecting on a rising slap shot from just over the blueline for his first career goal. Sophomore Troy Josephs (Whitby, ONT) assisted.

The Tigers, who were winless in their past 15 league games since their season-opening victory over Cornell, controlled the play for the final 40 minutes.

Princeton tied it up early in the middle frame when Aaron Kesselman tapped in a back-door pass at 5:38.

A broken play early in the third period on an apparent waved-off icing led to Princeton's second goal when the Tigers took advantage of a bounce at the side of the Clarkson crease. Tucker Brockett poked in a loose puck into an open net at 7:06 for the game-winner.

The Knights pull junior goaltender Greg Lewis (Mars, PA) for the extra attacker with 69 seconds remaining, but despite a flurry on shots, could not come up with the equalizer.

Clarkson outshot Princeton 29-18. The Knights went scoreless on their lone power play of the night and killed off both of the Tigers' man-advantage chances.
