Ryan St. Croix Leads Group of Eight Clarkson Liberty League All-Stars

Though the season ended for the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team on Friday, the award season began on Monday when the Liberty League announced eight members of the Golden Knights were chosen as conference all-stars.

Sophomore midfielder Ryan St. Croix was named a Liberty League First-Team All-Star, while seniors Corey Herrington, Dylan Broomfield, and JD St. Croix were picked as Liberty League Second-Team All-Stars. Senior Matt Gold, juniors Austin Case and Keith Mierzwa, and sophomore Nick Strandholm earned Liberty League Honorable Mention notice.

Ryan St. Croix, an Honorable Mention All-Star as a freshman, finished the season ranked ninth in the conference in goals per game (2.00) and led the Golden Knights in scoring overall with 40 points on 30 goals and 10 assists. He took more shots per game (7.80) than any other player in the conference, with more than 60 percent of them on goal.|

Corey Herrington was picked as a conference all-star on attack for the third time in his career, earning Second-Team status for the second time. He finished in a tie for second on the team in scoring with 32 points, including a team-high 18 assists, a figure that ranked sixth in the conference per game (1.20 apg). Herrington finished 13th all-time in scoring at Clarkson with 139 points and was sixth in assists with 79. Joining Herrington as a repeat all-star was Dylan Broomfield, a conference all-star as a sophomore. Broomfield, a Liberty League Second-Team All-Star Faceoff Specialist, won 56.6% of his faceoffs this season and ranked second in the league in groundballs at 5.93 per game (89 total). JD St. Croix, a three-time all-star on defense, led the team with 12 caused turnovers and helped Clarkson rank among the conference leaders in defense all season long. He also ranked fourth on the team with 24 groundballs.

Matt Gold, named an all-star at midfield for the second time in his career, was tied for second on the team in scoring with 32 points, scoring 20 goals and 12 assists. His 20 goals were second on the team, as were the 12 assists that he totaled. Additionally, Gold became the 25th player in Clarkson history to reach 100 career points. Junior Austin Case was picked as an Honorable Mention All-Star as a short stick midfielder, ranking third on the team in groundballs with 38. Classmate Keith Mierzwa was the second defender to earn all-conference status as he tied for the team lead in caused turnovers with 12 and ranked fifth with 23 groundballs.

Sophomore Nick Strandholm earned multiple weekly awards for his performance in the Clarkson crease and finished the season with a 8.86 goals against average and a .563 save percentage to go along with 44 groundballs. He finished third in the league among goalies that earned the bulk of their team's playing time and was second in the conference in save percentage. He also posted 166 saves, 11.07 per game.
