Grobe and Shea Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

Junior Stephanie Grobe and sophomore Madison Shea of the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team were both honored for their excellence on the court and in the classroom when they were named CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 award winners.

It marked the second straight year that two players from the Golden Knights' women's team earned the honor, with Grobe serving as a repeat winner and Shea getting the nod in her first year of eligibility. Grobe is the first Clarkson Women's Basketball player to gain multiple honors since Mickala Henson won three straight (2005-2007), and that was back when there were multiple teams.

Grobe, who owns a 3.97 grade-point average in Biology, is averaging 9.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.5 blocks per game as the Golden Knights have raced out to a record of 17-4 overall with 12 straight wins. She is also shooting 78.7% from the free throw line and has started all 21 games this year. She recorded a career-high 21 points on January 12th in a win over St. Lawrence and produced a career-best nine assists against Vassar on January 9th.

Shea, who has a flawless 4.00 grade-point average in Engineering and Management, is another guard who has started all 21 games this year, averaging 9.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.7 steals per game, with the latter figure ranking third in the Liberty League. Shea leads the team in field goal percentage (49.0%) and also is tied for fourth in the Liberty League in free throw shooting at 80.0%. She recorded her career-high of 23 points against Skidmore on January 19th, a game in which she tied the program record for consecutive free throws made with 24, making the first 16 of the game before finally recording a miss.

The duo will now advance to the national ballot with hopes of joining Stephanie Sealer (1995) as the only Clarkson Women's Basketball player to earn Academic All-American honors.
