Strong 1st-Half Effort Does Not Hold Up for CU Lacrosse at Cortland

A strong first-half showing by the Clarkson University Lacrosse team at SUNY Cortland on Wednesday afternoon gave the Golden Knights the early advantage, but the Red Dragons dominated­­ in the final 30 minutes to gain a 20-11 win at Stadium Red.

Clarkson led 6-5 at the half, but Cortland (8-5) took a 10-8 lead after three quarters and outscored the Green and Gold 10-3 over the final frame to post a nine-goal victory.

Junior Scott Dosser paced the Knights with three goals. Senior J.R. Campbell and junior Ryan St. Croix scored two goals apiece. Juniors Ryan DaRin and Marc Simmons, sophomore Sam Groves and freshman Peter Herrick tallied one goal each.

The Red Dragons outshot Clarkson 34-21 and controlled ground balls 51-26.

Junior Nick Strandholm posted 13 saves in the Knights' goal.

Clarkson, at 3-10, will resume Liberty League play this Saturday with a 5:00 p.m. game at Skidmore College.
