The Knights took four of five games from the Engineers in 2016-17. Clarkson is 18-12-4 over RPI at Cheel Arena, including a sweep in the ECAC Hockey playoffs early last March.
• Clarkson holds a 30-26-5 advantage in the all-time series against Union. • The opening slate to the 2017-18 campaign was one of the toughest in the program's 96-year history with seven of the Knights' first eight games against teams that competed in the NCAA Tournament last March. The only game not against a 2017 NCAA participant was vs. nine-time NCAA champion Michigan, who the Green and Gold shut out 3-0. Clarkson opened the year with a 2-1 win over Penn State en route to its best start in 11 years.
• Picked to finish fourth in ECAC Hockey this year by the league coaches, the Knights are ranked tied for 13th, and 14 in the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Magazine polls.
• Clarkson lost its ECAC Hockey opener last year, falling 5-3 to Quinnipiac, snapping its string of six unbeaten games (3-0-3) in the league opener.
• Jake Kielly is off to a strong start to his sophomore campaign and lists among the top goaltenders in the country in several categories, backstopping Clarkson to one of the Top 10 defenses in the country. He is sixth in Division I in save percentage (.946), tied for eighth in goals against average (1.62) and is tied for the national lead in shutouts with two through the first eight games. Kielly was named ECAC Hockey co-Goaltender of the Month for October.
• Clarkson was held to just one goal in both games over the weekend. In all three losses this season, the Knights failed to score more than one goal. Clarkson was 0-6-0 in 2016-17 and 0-5-1 in 2015-16 when it scored just one goal in a game. The last time Clarkson won a 1-0 game was on January 24, 2015 vs Yale at Cheel Arena.
• Clarkson's sophomore line of left wing Devin Brosseau (3-4), center Nico Sturm (1-4) and right wing Sheldon Rempal (4-5) has been a force for the Green and Gold accounting for 42% of the Knights' scoring. The trio, who enjoyed a strong freshman campaign skating together, has emerged as one of the top lines in the nation.
• Clarkson's scoring leader, Rempal has recorded at least one point in six of the first eight games. He tallied the Knights' lone goal in Saturday's game at Minnesota. He also leads the team in shots on goal (31).
• Captain Nic Pierog is the first Golden Knight to wear the #6 jersey since the late Mike Morrison '89 wore it in his senior campaign of 1988-89.  Pierog scored Clarkson's goal on Friday against Minnesota.
• The top offensive defenseman in ECAC Hockey in October, senior Terrance Amorosa has seven points on the year with two goals and five assists. The 2013 NHL Draft choice of the Philadelphia Flyers holds a team-high +6 plus/minus rating.  Amorosa has 44 career points (10-34) in 83 games.  Amorosa was named ECAC Hockey Player of the Month for October.
• The other NHL Draft choice on Clarkson's blueline, senior Kelly Summers is the leading career scorer among current Knights with 45 points on 13 goals and 32 assists through 117 games. A 2014 selection of the Ottawa Senators, Summers has tallied four points (1-3) this season.
• Grant Cooper leads the Knights' freshman class in scoring with a goal and an assist in six games with both points coming in his last two games. He missed Saturday's contest at Minnesota because of an illness.
• Jack Jacome is the only other Clarkson rookie to have scored a goal.
• Clarkson suffered its first loss this season when it scored first. Sheldon Rempal scored just 6:06 into the opening period of Saturda's 2-1 loss to Minnesota. The Knights are 4-1 when scoring first this season and winless (0-2-1) when the opponents score the opening goal.
