Sophomore Kate Isaksen of the Clarkson University Volleyball team added to her lengthy list of awards on Thursday when she was chosen as the ECAC Division III Defensive Player of the Year and All-ECAC Division III First-Team.

All-ECAC Division III Release

Isaksen, who earlier this month became the 10th player in program history to earn AVCA All-American honors and the eighth to gain CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, led the nation in digs per set by a solid margin of 0.20 per set, averaging 6.85 in 110 sets in 2017. Her 753 digs this season were the second most in the nation and third most in program history.

Isaksen surpassed 30 digs on 12 occasions in 2017, including a career-high 48 in a five-set match against Babson College during the NCAA Tournament. Her 48 digs against Babson were the sixth-best figure in any match during the 2017 season for all players in Division III.

In her two-year collegiate career, Isaksen has recorded 1588 digs, the 55th highest figure in NCAA Division III among active players and she is the only sophomore to rank in the top 100 among current players. The 6.35 digs per set that she has recorded through 250 career sets ranks second among all active players as well.
