Gibson Named USILA/Nike DIII Scholar All-American

Senior Justin Gibson closed out his collegiate career for the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team by being named a 2017 USILA/Nike Division III Scholar All-American.

A Scholar All-American must be nominated by his coach and be a student with a senior year academic standing and a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale). He will have behaved in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution, and to college lacrosse both on and off the field. He must also be an All-American, a member of a North/South team, or an outstanding league or conference player.

A three-year standout on defense for the Golden Knights, Gibson also excelled in the classroom, posting a 3.55 grade point average. The Pleasanton, California native graduated this May with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.

Gibson earned Liberty League First-Team All-Star honors this spring, leading the Green and Gold defense. Gibson produced 23 ground balls and had a team-high 20 caused turnovers, ranking just outside the top 10 in the conference in that category. He is a three-time Liberty League All-Academic Team selection.

USILA Nike Scholar All-Americans release

In 1989 the USILA Scholar All-America Program was established to recognize student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically and as citizens of their communities. The USILA Selection Committee selects an overall team representing Division I, II and III.
