CU Women's Soccer Preview - vs. Rensselaer (10/27)

On Saturday afternoon the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team will celebrate the careers of its four senior student-athletes as the Golden Knights close out the 2018 campaign against Rensselaer at Hantz Turf Field.

Live Stats/Live Video

The Series: RPI has won 21 of the 35 all-time meetings against Clarkson, including grinding out four ties. Clarkson's last victory came during the 2009 season and the Golden Knights have scored just twice in the last eight meetings, though both came in the last four years.

Key Stats for Clarkson (5-8-3, 1-5-2 Liberty League): Though it has resulted in just one win, the Golden Knights defense has played very well in the last half of the season, allowing one goal or less in seven of the last eight contests. Clarkson is unbeaten in its last three games, earning a 1-0 win against Bard and earning ties against both Union College (1-1) and St. Lawrence University (1-1). An understated component of that success is freshman Emma Harrigan, who leads the Golden Knights in minutes played (1,479). Harrigan has left the field only twice all season, taking short breaks at the conclusion of games in blowout wins over Mount St. Vincent and SUNY Canton.

Key Stats for Rensselaer (4-9-3, 1-5-2 Liberty League): Perhaps no team is more snakebit in the Liberty League than the Engineers. RPI leads the conference with 279 shots and is second with 132 shots on goal, but has just nine goals to show for it. In comparison, RPI scored 24 goals last year on 138 shots on goal (317 overall) and 23 goals on 135 shots on goal (292) in 2016. The perfect example of this comes from Whitney Wisnom, who leads the conference with 71 shots and has 29 attempts on frame with just one goal. Jacqui Richard (2-1-5) and Emily Kaplan (2-0-4) are the only Engineers with more than one goal this season. RPI is winless in its last eight games (0-5-3), having scored just twice in that span.
