CU Women's Lacrosse Preview - at RIT (4/14)

A 12-9 win over St. Lawrence on Wednesday put the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team in a tie for fourth in the Liberty League standings and the Golden Knights are aiming to improve on their conference placement this weekend when they face RIT on Saturday afternoon.

The Series: In 10 all-time meetings, the Golden Knights have come out as winners on three occasions, most recently in 2016 (11-9). RIT won the 2017 matchup, 13-9, though the two teams have exchanged wins in the last four games dating back to 2014.

Key Stats for Clarkson (10-3, 4-2 Liberty League): The Golden Knights rank second in the Liberty League in goals allowed, giving up seven scores per contest, trailing only William Smith (6.53 gpg) in the conference. Junior Samantha Gladd ranks second in the conference in both goals against average (7.75) and save percentage (.522), but is 10th in the league in saves per game (6.38) thanks to Clarkson's solid all-around shot denial. Junior Jaid Baytos scored eight points in her last game to push her season total to 47 with 38 goals and 9 assists. Sophomore Abby Collins, who ranks fourth on the team in scoring with 29 points, produced four groundballs and four points with three goals and an assist against the Tigers in 2017.

Key Stats for RIT (6-7, 4-4 Liberty League): Games with RIT generally involve a lot of goals as the Tigers lead the conference in goals per game (14.23 gpg) and ranks second in goals allowed (13.85 gpg). Senior Emily Livecchi leads the conference in assists per game (2.23) and points per game (5.62) with 44 goals, 29 assists and 73 points. Sophomore Alanna Fallone leads the league in goals per game (3.62) with a 47-7-54 line. Senior Maegan Schmauder also is producing an impressive stat line with 20 points, 26 groundballs, 30 draw controls and 22 caused turnovers, with the latter figure ranking second in the Liberty League. RIT's Achilles heel is in the crease, as the Tigers goalkeeping tandem has a save percentage of just .373.
